How to Create a Simple Landscape Background

Finished Card Inspired by: Brenda Keenan

This technique is really simple and doesn’t require any expensive tools.

To create the landscape background you need a few sponges, a template some inks, card stock, and a stamp or two.

I took one of Stampin’ Up!’s sponges and cut it into four pieces.

The Stamping Sponges come three to a package for $3.50 Order Here

To create the template you need a piece of cardboard a little thicker than card stock.

You will cut out a rolling hill pattern like the picture below.

Take the sponge and ink it in green.

Lay the template down on white card stock the way you want the first set of hills and valleys to go.

Next start at the template line and move your sponge in a circular motion to ink the card stock.

You want the heaviest concentration at the template line so the hills and valleys are defined.

Re ink your sponge as needed to get the coverage you want.

When you are happy with the coverage move the template up and vary or flip it to create a second set of hills and valleys.

Repeat the same sponging process.

I did this four times but that is entirely up to you and how you want it to look.

The hills and valleys are added.

Next I added the sun with the same circular motion just in the corner with yellow ink and a separate sponge. when I had the concentration I wanted I lightly swept the sponge outward to give a little bit of a ray effect.

Next I sponged the sky in light blue using a new sponge and circular motions with my heaviest concentration at the edges of the card.

I kept doing this until I was happy with the concentration.

I used Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, and Daffodil Delight Ink pads on the background.

I used Itty Bitty Banners and A Little Bit of Everything Stamp sets (not in catalog, click the stamp set name to find out how to get this 28 stamp set for free).

Also added Whisper White 3/8″ Taffeta ribbon and Rhinestone Basic Jewels
