I love Mojo Monday

It is Mojo Monday again!

Mojo Monday gives me something to look forward to on an otherwise mundane Monday.

Every Monday www.mojomonday.blogspot.com puts up a sketch

Here is the sketch:

zMojo302Sketch

This challenge was a little difficult for me

I knew I had the star down because I have had these vellum star tags forever

I had a hard time with the rest of the card.

I can’t say I am completely happy with it and I think I will try another card with the same sketch

Here is my 1st take:

Mojo Monday 302I feel off my game as of late

The colors I used are Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight (all though you wouldn’t know it as my camera is acting up)

The Star tag is an embellishment set I have had forever

The Moon stamp is Stampin’ Up! from 2000

I stamped the image with Black Stazon Ink # 101406

The moon is colored using Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers

Miracles Happen is from Bloomin Marvelous (Retired)

It is stamped in Melon Mambo Ink

The ribbon is White taffeta which I tried stamping on with Night as Navy ink (not sure I like the bleed)

If anyone has any ideas about how to get out of a creative rut…

Please leave a comment below!!!!

I love Mojo Monday

I am actually posting My take on Mojo Monday’s sketch on Monday!

Every Monday www.mojomonday.blogspot.com puts up a sketch

Here is the sketch:

Mojo301Sketch

This challenge gave me inspiration to use my Designer Series Paper (DSP) Afternoon Picnic #131390

Which by the way is part of the buy 3 get 1 free special going on this month See the post here

I had an idea when I looked at the sketch but the card grew from there.

Here is my take:

Mojo Monday 301
Click on Photo to see it Shimmer!

The colors I used were Wisteria Wonder, Old Olive and, Very Vanilla

The card itself is Very Vanilla

I layered the DSP on the vertical and the horizontal as well as a strip of Old Olive

Next I Die cut a piece of Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla using my Big Shot #113439, and the Labels collection framelits # 125598

The Very Vanilla layer is one size smaller than the Wisteria Wonder Layer

Next I stamped the roses from the You are Loved Stamp set (retired) using my markers and then spritzing with water and pigment pearl powder before stamping

The saying “Thinking of You” is from the stamp set Sassy Salutations wood mount # 132070 and clear mount # 126707

Both Die Cut layers were sponged on the edge with Wisteria Wonder ink and a sponge #101610

The flower was punched out using the Pansy Punch # 130698

I cut the flower down two opposite petals and glued them in closer together to give it that gathered look

I added a Basic Rhinestone Jewel # 119246 to the middle along with some Crystal Effects # 101055

I also added Basic Rhinestone Jewels to the upper left corner

Calling all crafters, this is a challenge with a purpose

This little 4 yr. old is fighting for her life

The family is requesting handmade 4 x 4 butterflies

Josie and most of her family
Josie and most of her family

HELP JOSIE GET 20,000 BUTTERFLIES by September 1, 2013

Josie Harris is a 4 year old girl who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
She has been getting Chemo Therapy and has been spending a lot of her time at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Josie will be in and out of Children’s for the next 2-3 years getting chemo, every other week
Along with her mother, Andrea Nicolas, big brother, Dominic, big sister, Kyli, big sister Hailey Harris and her father, Jesse, Josie is planning to fight this with all she has.
We will be hanging these butterflies all over her room to show her how much she is loved every day by so many, a reminder we will always have of Josie.

Here’s the info you need:
1. The butterflies need to be 4 inches by 4 inches (4″x4″).
2. You can decorate however you want; stickers, coloring or, any other way you can think of!
3. Be sure to add your name, and where you are from to the butterflies so Josie knows who is sending her love
4. Share this with a friend and spread the word to share the love!
5. Here’s the address:

Josie Harris
226 N 3rd Street
David City, NE 68632

I love Mojo Monday

I am actually posting My take on Mojo Monday’s sketch on Monday!

Every Monday www.mojomonday.blogspot.com puts up a sketch

Here is the sketch:

Mojo297SketchThis challenge came fairly easily for me

However I always seem to struggle with getting all the elements in and keeping the card a standard size

I know I can go outside the norm and make the card any size I want, I just like to keep it that way to give myself more of a challenge

Anyway you look at it the point remains the same it is a challenge and that is what I love about Mojo Monday

So, here is my take:

Mojo Monday 297 WM

The colors I used are Wild Wasabi and Regal Rose

The Wild Wasabi Layer was dry embossed using the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder “Lacy Brocade” # 127819

I also used the distress Tool on the edges of the Wild Wasabi layer #127562

The Regal Rose layer was corner punched with an old punch from I don’t know who, lol

Next up is a layer of Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla which I stamped in the same color inks

The stamp set is Bloomin Marvelous (Retired)

I used a sharpie Pen on the Large Pearl Basic Jewels # 125577

The little flower was cut out using the Floral Frames Framelits # 127012

I stamped the flower with Bloomin Marvelous using my markers to give it a graduated effect

I also covered the cut out flower with Crystal Effects # 101055 to give it a high shine

The little Banner was cut from Silver Glimmer Paper # 124005

I sponged on Wild Wasabi ink to the raised area of the embossed layer and to all the edges except the Regal Rose layer

I Love Mojo Monday…

Every Monday www.mojomonday.blogspot.com puts up a sketch

we stampers are suppose to use that sketch as inspiration

Once you have created your card you upload it to their blog and Sunday night they pick a winner

I love mojo Monday because every week it gives me a challenge to think outside my box

This week’s sketch:

Mojo Monday Sketch 296
Mojo Monday Sketch 296

And here is what I came up with:

Mojo Monday 296 WM

The Colors are Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist and, Daffodil Delight

Which I decided to go with because Split Coast Stampers has a challenge “soft pink sand”

I like to use more than one challenge at a time to push my creative brain just a little further

The Pink Pirouette background layer was embossed using the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder “Lacy Brocade” # 127819

I also used the distress Tool on the edges of the pink layer #127562

The butterfly is a stamp I have had for about 20 years, right now it is the only butterfly stamp I own

I used watercolor pencils to give the butterfly a waterclored look

I added shimmery mica to my spritzer with alcohol and sprayed the entire piece for the shimmer look

The pearls are Large Pearl Basic Jewels # 125577

I think I would leave the strips in the back out and my color in the photo is off because the Sahara Sand in the strip behind the butterfly looks green

Other than that I am pleased with the way this turned out

Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
