I Had a Brilliant Idea

Okay maybe not brilliant, but I was pretty proud of myself!

A few weeks ago we had a small craft fair that turned out to be the best one ever

I sold some stuff and bought way more, lol

That is the nature of these craft fairs that my group does

Anyway, Kristy Eskew was sitting next to me and she sells Scentsy

You can see her Beautiful and really good smelling stuff on her Scentsy website

She has this wax warmer that has magnetic frames you can put photos in

She also has decorative frames that will fit into the space on the front of the warmer

Here is a picture of one of the decorative frames you can get

Scentsy Butterfly frame

Now for my Brilliant Idea

The other frame is a picture frame and since they are magnetic I can change them out whenever I want

So, my brilliant idea was to create a stamped image on vellum to put in the picture frame

I can make new ones and change them whenever the mood strikes me

Here is my first picture:

Close up of scentsy picture

I tried a lot of different styles and techniques like shimmer and glitter but in the end because of the amount of light behind it they all were washed out

What looked the best was Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin Write Markers

Here is a couple of pictures of the whole Scentsy warmer and with the light on:

Do you have an idea that you thought was brilliant?

Leave me a comment and tell me about it, I might be able to try it and blog about it

Two Cards, One Stamp

I made two cards for Father’s day

One for my Dad and one for my Father in law

I used the only sorta masculine stamp set I own, Lovely as a Tree

Incidentally Lovely as a Tree has been in the annual catalog since 2001, I believe it is the only stamp set to stay around that long

My Father in law's Card
My Father in law’s Card
My Dad's card
My Dad’s card

I will say the circle punch on my Dad’s card is cheesy but my dad will get it

The first card used chocolate chip for the color

I stamped Lovely as a Tree clear mount # 127793 wood mount #128655

I used black Stazon Ink # 101406

The image was stamped onto vellum card stock #101856

On the back of the vellum I used my water color pencils and a brush to get the background effect

The chocolate chip card stock was die cut using the Labels collection framelits # 125598

In both cards I stamped the image twice, the second higher up image was done without re-inking to give it a more faded look thus more dimension

The second card used Night of Navy and Old Olive for the colors

The background was sponged using my ink pads and sponges

The image was stamped with basic black dye ink

I hope they enjoy their cards as much as I enjoyed making them

Happy Father’s Day to everyone!

I Love the Colors…

I was inspired my another Mojo Monday sketch.

Mojo294SketchI love the colors in the card I made and I think it turned out well

I had a lot of fun with the water coloring work I did on the flower.

Mojo Monday 294 WM

I took my time on this one and just had fun.

The colors I used were:

Elegant Eggplant

Daffodil Delight

Always Artichoke

and

Perfect Plum

I ran the card itself through the Big Shot using Adorning Accents Embossing Folder #125601

I layered on Always Artichoke using the Finishing Touches Edgelit #127010

Next I layered on Perfect plum using the Finishing Touches Edgelit #127010

I also stamped the image using Bordering on Romance stamp set # 125482

I wrapped the Perfect Plum layer in 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in Perfect Plum # 122987

Next I cut out the Always Artichoke piece and rounded the corners using my 1″ Circle Punch

I stamped and die cut the flower from the Secret Garden bundle  Clear mount # 131099 or Wood mount # 131100

I heat embossed the flower using Versamark ink, Elegant Eggplant ink and, Clear Embossing Powder

I water colored the flower using Perfect plum ink, water and, a paintbrush.

I also added Champagne Mist Shimmer paint (discontinued) to some of the ink mix for little spots of sparkle

I layered the flower on with Stampin’ Dimensionals

The buttons are Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons with Basic Rhinestone Jewels in the center

The bow was glued on separate at the end

I also sponged the edge of the Always Artichoke piece with Perfect Plum/Champagne mist/water mix

As always if you have questions please do not hesitate to ask

Inspired!!!

I have a friend and new demo that absolutely loved the patterns and colors in a baby dress.
